The Ministry of Justice has approved the publication of the news agency "Ishkhanutyun" regarding the amendments made to the Constitution. The modified version of the Constitution has appeared in the hands of our news agency, the "historical memory" of the Armenian people is actually deleted from its preamble. There is no mention of the Declaration of Independence, while the current Constitution is based on it.
And removing the Declaration of Independence from the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia was Ilham Aliyev's demand, because there are wordings about Artsakh and the historical homeland.
During the interview given to journalists on March 18, Srbuhi Galyan said that the text is ready. "I promised that it would be ready in March," he said. After our publication on March 20, we read the following: "The Council of Constitutional Reforms continues its activities, and in the process of forming the final version, both substantive and editorial changes are made." With these contradictory statements, the government actually misleads the public.
The clarification of the Ministry of Justice does not actually deny all this, but confirms it.
It does not say that the published text is false or untrue.
It only states that this is a "working", "draft" version and is still in the process of changes. But with these wordings, the ministry is making the main fact that there is such a text, it is being circulated and discussed, precisely with that logic.
When the declaration is already missing in the "draft" version, when the historical memory is erased in the "working" document, it is obvious that this is a direction, not a random experiment.
And that means one thing: what is published is not only real, but also reflects the political line by which the new Constitution is formed. The made change fully coincides with the demands that Ilham Aliyev has voiced for years, claiming that the Constitution of Armenia is a problem for Azerbaijan.
