Emily in Paris star reveals why she wouldn't wear her character's clothes in 'real life'

Netflix's Emily in Paris star Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu has revealed why she wouldn't wear her character's clothes in “real life.”The 61-year-old French actress plays PR manager Sylvie Grateau on the hit Netflix series. "When I wear her clothes, I wear things that I would never wear in real life," the actress told People magazine. "It's because the skirts are a little tight, the heels are a little high, and she struggles with those things, which I think is a struggle that Sylvie has in her life or in her clothes. So they convey that."

Leroy-Beaulieu says she doesn't take "anything from the show" after filming ends. "I would never wear that in real life. Not only because I don’t dress like that, but because it’s a character and you want to keep it a character.”
The actress previously had reflected on her personal style in an interview with Elle UK. “I’m becoming simpler and simpler with my style,” she had said. “It’s about good shirts, good sweaters, good jeans, good shoes—beautiful things that are very simple and comfortable. Quality is also important because I grew up in Rome, with people who have incredible talent and a love for high quality.”
As for her own philosophy on fashion, the star said: “Don’t try to be trendy. That’s what my mother taught me. Don’t just follow trends, be your own trend. And, also, invest in beautiful pieces that will last forever, rather than having a closet full of things that you forget about once you wear them. Quality over quantity, always.”
