February 9 marked the 140th anniversary of the birth of the prominent Armenian poet, lyricist, and public and political figure Vahan Teryan, on which occasion the Teryan Cultural Center NGO and the Support for Javakhk Foundation initiated a series of festive events under the title “With Teryan.”

On the occasion of the day, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, Chief Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs Zareh Sinanyan, President of the Writers' Union of Armenia Edward Militonyan, intellectuals, scientists, and officials visited the pantheon in Komitas Park to burn incense and lay flowers in memory of the poet.

Those present commemorated Vahan Teryan's activities, the path he had traveled, and his creative contributions. President of the "Teryan Cultural Center", Teryan expert Arushan Hakobyan, welcoming those present, emphasized that Vahan Teryan is a legend in his childhood, his adolescence, his youth, his activities, and his poetry. Teryan became a legend with his death.

He is constantly with us, he is with every young Armenian.

The students of Yerevan School No. 91 also recited some of Teryan's poems. Next, the event titled “With Teryan” took place at the Komitas Museum-Institute. Samvel Mkoyan, Director of the “Support to Javakhk” Foundation, presented the construction and future works of the Vahan Teryan House-Museum being restored by the JHA.

He noted that the museum is becoming a place where every visitor can feel the breath of Teryan’s soul, get acquainted with the story of his life and be inspired by his literary greatness.

Then, the “Voices of Yerevan” women’s chamber choir (artistic director and conductor Hasmik Vardanyan), singers Armen Tashchyan, Kerob Hovelyan, Mavr Mkrtchyan, and the reciter, laureate of the republican competition Narek Margaryan, gave performances. The organizers express their gratitude to the Director of the Komitas Museum-Institute, Tatevik Shakhkulyan, and the staff for their hospitality.
