The astronomers showed the first photos of the "Bloody Moon" (photos)

In the early hours of Friday, people around the world witnessed a rare astronomical phenomenon. A complete darkening of the moon that made the moon a sharp red color. The phenomenon was visible to America, the peaceful and the Atlantic Oceans, as well as in the western parts of Europe and Africa. This was reported by Agence France-Presse (AFP).

The eclipse of the moon takes place when the sun, the country and the moon are equal, as a result of which the shadow of the country covers the moon. However, the moon did not disappear completely in the dark, instead it shone with a reddish tint.

According to the British British Astronomer Daniel Brown, it is explained by the light of the sun, passing through the Earth's atmosphere, and gets red shades, as the sky becomes pink or red sunrise and sunset. The more dust and clouds in the atmosphere, the more the red color of the moon is.

The eclipse lasted about six hours, and the general stage, when the moon was completely in the shadow of the country, lasted a little more than an hour.

The phenomenon was named "Bloody Moon" in honor of one of the traditional names of the Martial Loyal Native Americans. Meanwhile, Brown admitted that he did not like the term "bloody moon", as it is connected with the superstition of the day of Judgment, some cultures view the darkness of the moon differently. In some African traditions, eclipse symbolized the conflict between the Sun and the Moon, which could only be resolved through the joint efforts of people on earth. Brown called it "an inspiring history of unity."

This is the first complete eclipse of the moon since 2022, but the next one is expected in September this year. In addition, the observers in the end of the month will be able to see partial eclipse of the Sun, on March 29 the moon will cover the sun. The phenomenon will be visible in Eastern Canada, in some parts of Europe, in the northeastern Russia and northwest Africa. Astronomers warn that it is dangerous to look at the sun with naked eyes, it is necessary to use special glasses or projection devices.
