Any factory-produced sausages contain a large amount of additives and flavor enhancers that have a negative effect on the body. In an interview with aif.ru, endocrinologist and nutritionist Anton Polyakov explained which sausages can be considered relatively healthy, and which ones are better to avoid completely.
The nutritionist noted that the World Health Organization previously classified sausage as a potential cancer-causing food. Even if the sausage is made according to old standards, for example, from 1947, it is not equivalent to the cut of meat or chicken from which it is made.
"This product is called 'fast food' in the West." It does not provide any health benefits. 80% of it is usually fat," explained Anton Polyakov.
According to the expert, there is no safe limit for sausage. It is best to try to completely eliminate it from your diet.
The only relatively healthy sausage option is homemade. The nutritionist explained that this product should be prepared at home with real meat and smoked naturally without the use of additives such as liquid smoke. According to the doctor, only this type of sausage can be used without serious concerns.
