European markets have responded to the statements of US President Donald Trump to make 50% customs duties, RBC reports.
According to the publication, the German DAX index, the French CAC-40 and the British FTSE 100 decreased by 2.84%, by 3.03% and 1.45%.
Trump wrote on his Truth Social social network that the only goal of creating the European Union is to benefit from trade with the United States.
"His huge commercial barriers, added taxes, non-monetary commercial traumbers, foreign manipulations, etc. have led to more than $ 250 million a year with the United States," the US President wrote directly 50% customs duties on June 1, 2025.
