US President Donald Trump has stated that Venezuela has deployed foreign troops on its territory and acquired offensive weapons systems abroad, which threaten US interests in the region.
"America will never allow foreign nations to rob our people or drive us out of our own hemisphere," he said at a news conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence near West Palm Beach, Florida. "Furthermore, under the now ousted dictator Maduro, Venezuela has increasingly hosted foreign adversaries in our region and acquired dangerous offensive weapons that could threaten our interests and lives, and last night they used those weapons," Trump added.
On January 3, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Ivan Gil Pinto, announced that the United States had attacked civilian and military targets in Caracas. He called Washington's actions military aggression. A state of emergency has been declared in Venezuela. Trump has confirmed that the USA has launched major strikes against Venezuela. He said that the leader of the republic Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured and taken out of the country.
