The crisis created around the Strait of Hormuz showed that energy security is a matter of national sovereignty, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.
"The closing of the Strait of Hormuz has taught us that energy security is not only a matter of development, but also of sovereignty and national security," Erdogan said.
According to him, recent events have confirmed Turkey's strategic importance in the global energy sector. Erdogan noted that the protracted crisis around Iran and the Strait of Hormuz has strengthened the role of the republic as the most important energy hub in the region.
