In the Georgian city of Batumi, a Turkish national who was internationally wanted by Interpol with a red notice has been arrested. Turkish law enforcement agencies were seeking him on charges of committing sexual violence with aggravating circumstances against a child over 12 years old, reports "Georgia Online" citing the country's Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, officers from the Criminal Police Department of Adjara identified the man's location during investigative procedures and apprehended him.
Currently, extradition procedures provided by law are being carried out against the detainee.
Turkey is demanding his extradition for further criminal prosecution.
