The President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, called on the EU countries to establish direct diplomatic ties with Russia. He stated that the time for negotiations with Moscow has not yet come, but Brussels needs to immediately establish direct communication channels.

Kosta emphasized that the European Union must be represented at the table of future negotiations on peace, and the interests of Europe must be protected by the EU institutions themselves.
