Acting Iranian Oil Minister Hamid Bovard has responded to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent's warning about a potential heating fuel shortage in Iran by stating that Washington should be more concerned about fuel prices for American consumers, reports the Iranian Tasnim agency.
In a post on the X social network on Tuesday, Bovard noted that while negotiations over gas diplomacy are ongoing in Moscow, the US is searching for diesel fuel.
He simultaneously advised Bessent to direct his calls for fuel stockpiling to Americans, who have been paying for US President Donald Trump's adventurism for several months now.
The Iranian official’s statement came after Bessent's claims that the US blockade of Iranian ports and the ongoing war would lead to more than a 25% reduction in Iran's economy during the period from March 2026 to March 2027.
The head of the US Treasury Department also stated that Iran is facing a shortage of foreign exchange and declining oil production. According to him, the country faces a serious shortage of heating fuel, and therefore he urged Iranians to stock up in advance.
