US President Donald Trump surprised some aides by deciding to sign the agreement with Iran during a dinner at the Palace of Versailles, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources. The signing ceremony was scheduled for Friday in Switzerland, but Trump signed the memorandum with Iran a day earlier during a dinner in Versailles.
"He unexpectedly decided to sign the agreement with Iran at a dinner at the Palace of Versailles near Paris, surprising some of his aides who had planned a separate signing event for Friday," the report said. At the meeting to be held in Switzerland, the American delegation should present Vice President J.D. Vance.
On Friday evening, a White House spokesman announced that Vance's scheduled flight at the end of the work week would not take place.On the night of June 18, Iran and the United States signed a memorandum remotely aimed at ending the military conflict that began on February 28. The memo also sets a timeline for when the United States will lift the naval blockade and Iran will restore shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
