The state visit of the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan, to Japan has been postponed at the request of the Emirati side, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara told reporters.
"The UAE government informed us that they had to postpone the visit due to the regional situation," he said. At the same time, Kihara emphasized that the two countries will later agree on new dates for the visit.
"We intend to continue cooperation with the UAE in a wide range of fields," he added.
The Kyodo agency reported that the decision was made due to the increase in tension in the Middle East, particularly against the background of the escalation of relations between Iran and the United States.
