NYT. Iran is ready to end its nuclear program in order to reach a deal with the US

The New York Times, citing officials, reports that Iran is ready to suspend or temporarily suspend its nuclear program in order to reach an agreement with the United States and ease regional tensions.

According to two sources, Tehran is ready to stop or temporarily suspend the implementation of the nuclear program, which would be a major concession, but the Iranian authorities prefer the settlement option by creating a regional consortium for the production of nuclear energy with the participation of the United States.

According to American and Iranian officials, the Islamic Republic's foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, and the US president's special representative, Stephen Wittkoff, who are scheduled to attend talks on a possible nuclear deal in Istanbul on February 6, support a form of personal communication through a written exchange, the newspaper said.

In addition, according to the NYT, Jared Kushner, the son-in-law of the US president and entrepreneur, will also attend the meeting in Turkey, as well as high-ranking officials of Turkey, Qatar and Egypt.
