Call on US Congressmen to voice the rights of Armenians dictated by Baku

Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhichevan Pan-Armenian Union issued a statement.

Yesterday, 87 members of the US Congress filed Secretary of State Marco Rubio, calling on all parties to the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, ensuring the collective, protected and decent return of forced Armenians to their native homeland, Nagorno Karabakh.

The congressmen noted that in September 2023, Azerbaijan's military attack on Nagorno-Karabakh, taking place after the ten-month blockade of food, fuel, medicine and other humanitarian accessories. Azerbaijan has also undertaken a large-scale robbery and demolition of civil property and public infrastructure, trying to "reject the possibility of the return of the displaced Armenian population."

The congressmen noted that the right to return to their homes displaced by the war is a fundamental principle of international law. In December 2023, the International Court of Justice made a temporary decision to ensure Azerbaijan's safe return to Nagorno-Karabakh.

"Gardman, Shirvan, Nakhichevan" All-Armenian Association welcomes the initiative of the US Congressmen for the violation of the rights of force of violent displaced people and to restore them. However, we want to remind that the violent displacement of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh was not the first attempt at all human rights violations by Azerbaijan. 1988-1992 Azerbaijan completely dismisses Gardman, Shirvan, Nakhichianan. This anti-humanitarian step has not been a clear political and legal assessment, and the rights of hundreds of thousands of refugees and their defense remained suspended for decades. Therefore, we call on the US Congressmen to speak out in 1988-1992. Forming the rights of Armenians forcibly displaced by the Azerbaijani authorities, formulate a clear assessment of 1988. Sumgait, 1989 Gandzak, 1990 Baku, 1992 To the Maragha massacres and massacres.
