US President Donald Trump has announced his intention to "save" New York, and to make it strong again before the next mayoral elections in November 2025.

"I will save New York, and I will make it hot and powerful, as I did with the old and good US," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

He called one of the mayor's candidates "Communist Mad", saying that he would not allow him to "destroy" the city.

"Be calm, I have all the levers and all the playing cards," the US President wrote.
