The teacher who beat the student was fired

The RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports regularly receives alerts about incidents of violence in educational institutions. According to the Ministry of Education and Culture, one of such alarms was the case of a child being beaten by a teacher in the first grade, and upon receiving the alarm, the Ministry contacted the Education Inspection Body, the Police and the Prosecutor's Office. As a result of the steps taken, the teacher was dismissed. In the near future, the Ministry of Education and Culture is also preparing to submit a lawsuit to deprive the mentioned teacher of the right to engage in pedagogical activities.

"We consider it necessary to point out that similar situations are unacceptable, and in that case the Ministry will consistently apply to the court to deprive such educators of the right to further pedagogical activities.

Applications addressed to the Ministry indicate that there are cases of violence both between children and in teacher-student relationships, which are often reported to all or almost all employees of the educational institution, students and representatives of the parent community Failure to take action leads to unacceptable tolerance of violence, which primarily affects children and the quality of education.

It should be emphasized that possible violence against teachers is equally intolerable, especially in the case of disrespectful treatment by parents. The Ministry is also developing a package of legislative amendments in order to clarify the obligations of parents in terms of ensuring the child's right to education and to take necessary steps in case of non-compliance in these matters.

The educational institution should be a safe and secure environment for students, therefore, we urge you to refrain from any kind of violence, in case of such manifestations, speak up to the relevant authorities, and with joint efforts, ensure an atmosphere of positive communication and relations in the school," said the message of the Ministry of Education and Culture.
