President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with the Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres.
The UN Secretary General congratulated Azerbaijan on the COP29 presidency and wished success in this matter. Emphasizing the close cooperation between the UN Secretariat and the Azerbaijani delegation, Antonio Guterres said that the UN is ready to provide full support to the successful presidency of Azerbaijan. The UN Secretary General said that he will also participate in the upcoming G20 event and the JOP closing ceremony.
During the conversation, it was noted that this year's agenda of the SOR included the topic of financial goals. President Ilham Aliyev said that Azerbaijan will continue efforts to find consensus and achieve solidarity between different countries. The importance of the topic of global climate change was emphasized at the meeting, it was noted that the topic of climate change is one of the priority issues of the "Future Summit" and other UN documents.
