The issue of access to agricultural land in Kirants remains unresolved

After the demarcation, the issue of access to agricultural lands of Kirants community of Tavush marz remains unresolved. Back in JuneSputnik Armeniawrote that the residents of the village of Kirants will have problems with access to the agricultural lands near the Berkaber reservoir.

The main road passed through the former village of Kherimli, which is now under the control of Azerbaijan. At that time, the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure told us that the issue can be addressed after the demarcation and demarcation process. Later, we sent a new request to TKE, wondering if the issue was resolved.

"At the moment there is no solution," said the ministry. Local residents and land owners told us that the fertile lands, where they used to sow wheat, now remain uncultivated. You can get there by another, relatively difficult road (by SUV).

The villagers are not in a hurry to cultivate these lands because of security issues. On the one hand, they are afraid that the parts of the new border may be mined. On the other hand, after demarcation, the Azerbaijani border guards were positioned very close, in the territory of the former neighboring village of Kherimli, right next to those plots.

Some of the landowners did not go there at all after the demarcation/demarcation. Moreover, visiting those areas is also problematic due to the need to coordinate with the Armenian border guards.
