US President Donald Trump has stated that he wants loyalty from NATO allies. During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House, Trump linked the issue of loyalty to allies' defense spending.
He repeated that he was disappointed that NATO members did not join military operations against Iran. "We didn't even need it, but it would be nice if they did," the US president said.
Before the meeting with the head of the White House, Rutte noted that the NATO allies during the armed conflict with Iran very actively helped the American troops in terms of logistics.
Rutte's visit to the White House took place against the background of preparations for the NATO summit in Ankara on July 7-8.
