Specialists of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) will sooner or later begin inspections of Iran's nuclear facilities, as stipulated in the memorandum of understanding between the United States and Iran. This was announced by Rafael Grossi, Director General of the IAEA, during a visit to Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, where treated wastewater continues to be released into the ocean.
"The memorandum clearly states that activities at facilities using nuclear materials will be under the supervision of the IAEA," Grossi was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. "Obviously it requires checks and they will be carried out." At the same time, the head of the AEMG noted that it is currently unclear when such inspections can begin.
"Will it be not tomorrow, the next day, in a week, or in 10 days, is an important question, but not the most important," he added.
