Since January 20, 38 people have died as a result of heavy snowfall in Japan. This is evidenced by the statistics of the General Fire Department of the country, which "RIA Novosti" agency got acquainted with.

Since January 20, heavy snowfall has been recorded in the northern and northwestern regions of Japan. Earlier it was reported about 35 victims and 393 injured.

Currently, 451 people have received injuries of various degrees, the condition of 142 of them is assessed as serious. The total number of victims reached 38. Niigata Prefecture accounted for more than a third of the victims, 14 people.
