The USA has threatened to impose sanctions on Algeria due to the purchase of Russian fighter jets

The USA may impose sanctions on Algeria due to the purchase of Russian fighter jets. This was announced by the head of the State Department's Middle East Affairs Bureau, Robert Palladino, An-Nahar newspaper reports.

Palladino noted that reports of Algeria's purchase of Russian fighter jets are a concern for the US administration.

"We closely cooperate with the Algerian government on the issues in which we find a common language. However, we disagree on many issues, and the arms deal is an example of what the US finds problematic," said a State Department spokesperson.
