The joint project of the Ministry of Health and the "Armenian Ophthalmology Project" charitable foundation was awarded a grant by the World Diabetes Foundation.
The program is aimed at the implementation of diabetes strategy in Armenia and the prevention of diabetes-related blindness.
Within the framework of the "Implementation of the National Diabetes Strategy in Armenia and Prevention of Blindness" program, eye examinations, eye laser treatment, diabetic foot screening program will be conducted for the first time in Yerevan and all marzes, in the primary link in 2024-2027, and if necessary, patients will be referred for operations.
In addition, regional medical institutions will be equipped with equipment, medical workers' trainings will be organized, clinical guidelines for the management of diabetes and its complications will be developed, and diabetes schools will be established in marzes.
Representatives of the World Diabetes Foundation (Denmark) arrived in Armenia in order to announce the start of the work of the project, who, together with the specialists of the Ministry of Health and the Armenian Ophthalmology Project, visited Armavir region to get acquainted with several important components of the project.
