Scientists have discovered a substitute for red meat that will protect the heart health

Partial replacement of red and processed meat is improving the metabolism of lipids with beans (except soy), reduces body weight and reduces the risk of cardiovascular disease. This was reported by the scientists from the University of Helsinki. The results of the study were published in the "European Journal of Nutrition" magazine (EJN).

102 healthy men aged 21 to 61 took part in the study. Participants randomly divided into two groups.

The first group was consumed weekly 760 grams of red and recycled meat. About a quarter of their protein's total protein received beef, pork and their derivatives (for example, bacon and sausage). The second group was consumed only 200 grams of meat, where the beans were the main source of protein.

All participants drove food diaries and regularly provide blood and urine samples. Researchers followed body weight, body mass index (BMI) and cardiovascular disease and 2-type diabetes risk biomarkers.

Men who consumed more beans were higher, and they were more likely to eat nutritional fibers, not saturated fatty acids and iron. However, their consumption has decreased saturated fats, vitamin B12 and iodine. Along with the changes in the diet, the second group also fell to cholesterol (LDL) cholesterol (LDL) cholesterol (LDL) cholesterol.

Moreover, in the group that replaced some of the meat with beans, researchers have registered a moderate decrease in the weight and body mass index. The authors emphasize that the changes in such a diet may be an effective way to prevent cardiovascular disease. Many studies have shown that weight increases in the blood vessels are cholesterol's sedimentary of heart attack and stroke risk factors.
