European Union Ambassador to Armenia Vasilis Maragos sent a video message in Armenian on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. According to "Armenpress", the ambassador sent the message from across Matenadaran.


"Today the world is celebrating the International Mother Language Day. It was adopted by UNESCO and is celebrated on February 21, 2000. International Mother Language Day has been celebrated in Armenia since 2005.


Armenian is one of the oldest languages ​​in the world. I am happy to congratulate everyone on this wonderful holiday," said Maragos.


The ambassador also read excerpts from Hamo Sahyan's poem "The Spring is Coming to Armenian".
