An unknown person broke into the estate of former US Vice President Kamala Harris

An unknown person broke into the territory of former US Vice President Kamala Harris' house in Malibu, California. He was stopped by security guards before he could reach home. This is reported by NBC News.

The incident happened on Friday evening. At the time, Kamala Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, were not at home.

According to Eduardo Negron, the representative of Harris, an unknown person managed to enter the territory of the estate, but private security officers noticed and stopped him in time.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department reported that at approximately 10:30 p.m., they received a call about the presence of a suspicious person in the area of Harris' residence. The law enforcement officers who arrived at the scene contacted the private security guards of the house.

By the time the police arrived, the man had already left the estate. The law enforcement officers warned him and demanded to leave the area. The man complied with the request and left voluntarily, so he was not arrested.

The police made a report about the illegal invasion in connection with the incident. The law enforcement officers also announced that they will strengthen patrolling in that area as a preventive measure.

Kamala Harris and her husband thanked security guards and law enforcement for their quick response.

NBC News reminds that the incident took place after US President Donald Trump terminated the protection of Harris by the Secret Service.

Under US law, former vice presidents, their spouses, and children under the age of 16 are entitled to Secret Service protection for six months after their term ends.

In January 2025, however, then-President Joe Biden signed a memorandum extending Harris' protection to 18 months.
