Messages about the failure of the autumn discount season on the Wildberries online sales platform do not correspond to reality, the press service of the merged company Wildberries and Russ (RWB) reported. The information claiming that attacks on warehouses affected sellers' readiness for the discount season is not true, Digital Platforms Association President Oraz Durdiyev said in a comment to TASS announced.
Earlier, some media outlets and Telegram channels reported that conducting traditional discounts on marketplaces had become difficult due to drone attacks on company infrastructure.
"We expect the upcoming discount season to continue the positive dynamics of previous years. Traditionally, during major promotions, buyer activity increases, the number of participating sellers grows, as well as the assortment of discounted products. Moreover, there are no clear prerequisites for product assortment reduction this season. On the contrary, the range of products on Wildberries has increased several times compared to last year," RWB commented.
Durdiyev stated that the information circulating online does not correspond to reality. "The information that warehouse attacks have affected sellers' readiness for the discount season is not true. There are also no prerequisites for a reduction in the assortment. We see that the platform's sellers are prepared for the high season. For entrepreneurs, this is traditionally one of the most active and in-demand sales periods," he noted.
Furthermore, some sellers have become more active after the attacks, Durdiyev noted. He mentioned that the freeing up of certain niches has created new opportunities for entrepreneurs, which sellers have taken advantage of instead of adopting a wait-and-see approach. "The platform model has proven its stability, and there are no grounds to talk about the failure of the season," the expert concluded.
