Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived at the Ankara airport to meet US President Donald Trump, whose plane landed in the Turkish capital about half an hour ago. Erdogan met Trump at the presidential jet, after which they talked as they walked to the terminal building.
The meeting was broadcast on almost all Turkish TV channels. Erdogan does not usually come to the airport to meet foreign leaders, but delegates this task to other officials. This time, it was not announced in advance that he would meet Trump personally.
From the airport, Trump and his delegation will go to the Beştepe presidential complex, where the two presidents will hold bilateral talks. That evening, Trump will join NATO leaders for a formal dinner to kick off the Ankara summit.
