US President Donald Trump has announced that the United States has given Iran a one-week break in negotiations for the funeral of the supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei.
"They are looking forward to conducting negotiations. We gave them a week off for the funeral," Trump said Friday during his July 4 Independence Day speech at South Dakota's Mount Rushmore. The memorial ceremony of the deceased supreme leader of Iran began in Tehran on July 3.
As The Wall Street Journal reported on July 1, citing sources, Trump informed his aides that he does not see any problem in extending negotiations with Tehran beyond the 60-day period set by the memorandum of understanding.
