The former foreign minister of Latvia, Janis Jurkans, said that after the imposition of sanctions against Russia, a sharp drop in the country's income from transit to Russia was recorded.
He told "Izvestia" about this. According to him, the income received from transit of Latvia to Russia decreased from 14% to 3%.
"In the early 2000s, 14% of the budget came from transit. Today it is 3-5%. All transit costs to Russia were quite significant and provided great incomes," he said. Jurkans expressed hope that in the future, neighborly relations between Russia and Latvia will develop.
