In Krakow, police first fired warning shots, then fired at a 23-year-old man armed with a knife in the Kapelanka Street area. The incident occurred shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, about 12 hours after the mass shooting in the city center, reports the Polish RMF 24 radio station.
According to the police of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship, officers who responded to the call initially fired warning shots, then one of the policemen fired in the direction of the man but missed.
No one was injured as a result of the incident. The man discarded the knife, after which he was arrested and taken to the hospital.
Regional police spokesperson Katarzyna Cisło stated that preliminary information suggests the detainee may have a mental disorder.
She emphasized that the night incident is unrelated to the mass shooting that took place the previous day at the Main Market Square of Krakow.
On Saturday, a shooting occurred in the city center, resulting in six deaths and dozens injured. Among the injured were police officers, one of whom is in serious condition.
