A fire broke out during landing at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport when a Turkish Airlines plane landed, Nepal News reported on May 11, citing the airport's administration.
The plane was flying from Istanbul. While landing on the runway, a fire broke out in one of the wheels of the landing mechanism. Footage posted on social media showed flames and smoke billowing from the landing gear as the plane taxied down the runway. Between 284 and 289 people were on board, including 11 crew members. All passengers and crew were evacuated through emergency exits. According to initial reports, no one was injured.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
