North Korea announced that it launched its newest ballistic missile on October 31

North Korea said it had launched its newest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), the Hwasong-19, on Thursday. This is reported by the Yonhap agency, referring to the Korean Central News Agency.

According to KCNA, the missile rose to a maximum height of 7,687.5 km and traveled more than 1,000 km.

According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the missile launched by the DPRK was in flight for a record 86 minutes and during this time reached its highest altitude of more than 7 thousand km. It traveled a distance of 1,000 km and fell about 200 km west of the Japanese island of Okushiri, near Hokkaido, outside Japan's exclusive economic zone.

On October 31, KCNA reported that North Korea had conducted a "very important test" of an ICBM launch on the orders of the country's leader, Kim Jong Un.
