Former gang leader Dwayne "Keffie D" Davis has been found guilty of masterminding the murder of rapper Tupac Shakur, the BBCreports.
A jury found him guilty of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon in the September 7, 1996, drive-by shooting death of the rap superstar in Las Vegas. During the trial, the court heard a recording of a 2008 police interview in which Davis said he was in the car from which the shots were fired, but did not fire the bullets that killed Shakur.
The prosecution argued that although Davis, a former leader of the South Side Compton Crips street gang, did not fire the gun himself, he ordered the shooting and provided the gun, which was used by his cousin Orlando Anderson.
Anderson died in an unrelated incident in 1998, denying any involvement in Shakur's murder. The main evidence in the case was Davis' own statements, in which he repeatedly and publicly admitted to being inside the white Cadillac from which the fatal shots were fired.
Davis said he would appeal the judge's decision.
Recall that it was previously reported that American rapper and producer Sean Combs (P. Diddy) could face criminal charges in connection with the murder of Tupac Shakur if the court finds Dwayne "Keefe D" Davis guilty.
