The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that it supports the findings of the international OSCE/ODIHR observation mission for the parliamentary elections in Georgia, which recorded numerous violations. This is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reports “European Pravda”.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine noted that bribery, intimidation, coercion and pressure on voters, lack of transparency of voting, restriction of access of opposition parties to the media - this is only an incomplete list of violations for which these elections will be remembered. “It is not surprising that their results were highly appreciated and welcomed in Russia, after all, such methods of influencing the results of expression of will are inherent specifically in the Russian regime. At the same time, they are incompatible with the path to the EU and NATO, which the Georgian government declares,” the department emphasized.
The Foreign Ministry emphasized that the facts established by international observers must be investigated to ensure the legitimacy of the elections and avoid a political crisis.
Ukraine called on the Georgian government “not to follow the Belarusian path to the loss of sovereignty and independence.”
“Under any circumstances, Ukraine will support the Georgian people in their desire to continue the strategic course of joining the EU and NATO,” the Foreign Ministry added.
