"Zhoghovurd" daily writes:
"Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper became aware that in addition to Mihran Poghosyan, the former head of the State Security Agency, another person was wanted in the famous criminal case of 1 ton of cocaine.
It became known to us that the latter is Gagik Badalyan, the actual director of "MRGENI" LLC. We had announced that the biggest drug case of the last decade in Armenia, 1 ton of cocaine, is in court.
The case was assigned to Yerevan judge Gnel Gasparyan. There are 5 people accused in the criminal case. Samvel Semyoni Galustyan was charged with the fact that he, as part of a group, illegally acquired and kept a particularly large amount of "Coke" drug for the purpose of sale, as well as illegally transported the above-mentioned particularly large amount of "Coke" drug across the RA state border, hiding it from customs control with prior consent.
The accused are Melita Ghazaryan, Levon Atajanyan, the former head of the State Security Agency, Mihran Poghosyan, and Gagik Badalyan. Let's remind that within the scope of the case, the NSS informed that the actual owner of "Mrgeni" LLC, ex-MP Mihran Poghosyan, the director of the company Levon Atajanyan (a citizen of the Russian Federation) and the warehouse manager S.G. were involved in the process of importing and selling about one ton of cocaine with a prior agreement, in a group, especially in large quantities.
Moreover, a search was announced for Mihran Poghosyan, arrest was applied to others. they were later released. Let's add that "Mrgeni" LLC was founded after the revolution, on July 27, 2018, which adds an additional shadow to the case from a political point of view.
At first, it was reported that about one ton of cocaine was found, then the director of the NSS clarified in the National Assembly that the real weight is 788 kg, 42 boxes, 20-25 kg each, which was confirmed by the test.
But the adjustment of the case did not save the law enforcement system from legal chaos. For almost 2 years, the Investigative Committee did not have a clear way to take the case to court or stop the prosecution, as a result, the case went to court. We will follow the progress of the case.
The actual case of 1 ton of coke is in court, but the managers of the company through which the drug appeared in Armenia are not there."
