Russians spent almost 14% of the Russian budget on the purchase of used cars

From January to September 2024, Russian residents spent 5.04 trillion rubles on used cars, which is 16% more than in the same period last year. This was reported by the analytical agency Autostat.

“The most money during the reporting period was spent on the purchase of used passenger cars of the Japanese brand Toyota - 697 billion rubles. Next in this indicator, with a noticeable lag, is the German brand BMW (432 billion rubles),” the Autostat report notes.

Over the three quarters of 2024, Russians spent 413 billion rubles on a used Lada, 390 billion rubles on a Kia, and 369 billion rubles on a Mercedes-Benz. During this period, 320 billion rubles were spent on used Hyundai cars.

The amount of 5.04 trillion rubles is comparable to 14% of the expenditure side of the Russian state budget, which amounted to 36.7 trillion rubles in 2024.

Previously, the Russian tire giant Cordiant came under American sanctions.
