Axios. The US intends to appoint an American general to head the Gaza Stabilization Force

The United States plans to appoint an American general as commander of the future international stabilization force in the Gaza Strip, the creation of which is provided for in the peace plan of US President Donald Trump. This is reported by Axios, citing sources.

During his first official visit to Israel, US Permanent Representative to the United Nations Mike Waltz told the country's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that he personally knows this general and noted that "he is a very serious person".
Waltz also assured the head of the Israeli government that the appointment of the American commander should guarantee the interests of the Jewish state during the further settlement process.

Axios' sources also note that the US is currently in the final stages of establishing a stabilization force. However, US troops will not be directly involved in providing security in Gaza.

Earlier, Axios, citing sources, reported that the United States is negotiating with several countries to establish an international stabilization force in the Gaza Strip. They may include representatives of Azerbaijan, Egypt, Indonesia and Turkey, as well as units of the Palestinian police.
