Russia does not interfere in Georgia's internal affairs. Peskov

Russia does not interfere in Georgia's internal affairs and has no intention of interfering, Russian President's Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated during a briefing, responding to Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili's statement that Georgia is ruled by the "Russian government". Zurabishvili also accused the ruling Georgian Dream party of wanting to falsify the October 26 parliamentary elections.

"We do not interfere in the internal affairs of Georgia in any way and we are not going to do it, instead we see blatant attempts by Western countries to put pressure on the current authorities of Georgia and influence the course of the pre-election campaign," Peskov said in this regard.

He also noted that although there are certain problems in the relations between Georgia and Russia, bilateral relations are maintained.

"Georgia is our neighbor.  The complications in bilateral relations are not an obstacle to the development of humanitarian relations between the peoples of the two countries, people continue to travel both from Russia to Georgia and from Georgia to Russia," added Peskov.
