Scientists have explained why a low carbohydrate diet is harmful to your heart

Scientists from Umeo University (Sweden) have found that refusing to fats in favor of carbohydrates raises the level of "bad" cholesterol and blood pressure. These changes serve as a risk factor of heart and vascular disease. The results of the study were published in the International Journal of Cardiology (IJC).

The study took part in 100 volunteers aged 48.7 years old. Participants did not smoke, did not have metabolism diseases and did not accept medications that reduced the level of lipids (for example, cholesterol). Volunteers followed three months with low carbohydrates and fat-rich diet.

Carbohydrate-rich foods include both sweets and flour products, as well as vegetable foods, fruits, vegetables, berries and grains. Fats contain meat, cheese, egg, nut, oil, fast food, fish and dairy products.

In addition to the diet, the participants have announced their appetite, physical activity, weight, self-suffering changes. At the end of the study, blood and urine samples were taken from each volunteer to evaluate the changes in metabolism in the body.

The results have shown that the passage of low carbs and fat diet is associated with the increase in the level of HDL and LDL cholesterol. Scientists have noted that the "emphasis" has led to the deterioration of the lipid profile and increase the risk of atherosclerosol plants in the arteries.

Restriction of the proportion of carbohydrates and excess fat in the diet increases blood pressure. Famous complications of hypertension are stroke and myocardial infarction. Scientists have said that those who use more protein are better protected from hypertension.

The researchers added that the main drawback of low carbohydrates in the diet is the absence of cellulose. These dietary fibers are mainly found in cereals, fruits, vegetables and berries. They have an underlined anti-fluke effect.
