Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and his Turkish counterpart Hakan Fidan held a telephone conversation on regional developments, paying special attention to the latest developments around Palestine, as well as bilateral relations between Iran and Turkey, the Iranian IRNA news agency reported.
The Iranian Foreign Minister, noting that the countries are categorically opposed to the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, described such a “conspiracy” as “a continuation of the genocidal policy against the Palestinian people.”
He stressed the importance of a firm and united stance by Islamic states to confront the threat of displacement, urging an immediate meeting of ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to resolve this issue. Araghchi, citing excellent bilateral relations, considered the recent political consultation meeting between Iran and Turkey, chaired by the deputy foreign ministers of the two countries, a significant and productive step.
He stressed the importance of maintaining regular dialogue between the two countries for the further strengthening and development of cooperation in various fields. In turn, the Turkish Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the effective development of bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
He also noted the need for all Islamic countries to continue protecting the rights of the Palestinian people and welcomed the proposal of the Iranian Foreign Minister to convene an extraordinary session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
