Canada must join the United States as a state of 51, which means decreasing taxes and avoid customs duties. The US President Donald Trump wrote on this on the Truth Social.
"We pay hundred billion dollars to subsidize Canada. Why? There is no reason. We don't need anything from them. We have unlimited energy, we need to produce our cars ourselves, we have more wood than we can ever use, "he wrote.
"Without these huge subsidies, Canada will cease to exist as a viable country. It's hard, but it's true. That's why Canada should become our 51st state. This means significantly lower taxes and much better military protection for Canadian people and no customs duty, "Trump summarized.
On Saturday, Trump has signed a decree on defending customs duties on Canada to 10%, but for 25%. It will come into force on February 4.
