It is impossible to combine Armenia's membership in the EU and EAEU. Lavrov

Armenia's membership in the European Union, to which Yerevan has announced its desire to join, is incompatible with simultaneous participation in the EAEU, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, RIA Novosti writes.

Earlier, the RA government had supported the legislative initiative to start the process of the republic's accession to the European Union, which will be discussed by the parliament. Lavrov reminded the Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk's statement about the incompatibility of EAEU and the EU.

"Since they are two different free trade zones, two different systems of reducing or eliminating duties and customs duties, they do not coincide," he said at a press conference on the results of Russian diplomacy in 2024.

Lavrov also noted that the relations between Yerevan and Moscow are complicated, and the ties between the two nations are friendly and brotherly.
