President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
“The Head of State highly appreciated the support of the Chancellor in peacemaking in Ukraine, her consistent position on sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as practical assistance of Germany in the implementation of reform policy,” the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine reports.

Angela Merkel stressed the unwavering position of Germany in support of Ukraine to establish peace in Donbas. The German Chancellor assured that she would use future contacts with partners in the Normandy format to reach an agreement on the date of the summit.

The participants discussed the security situation in Donbas, in particular, the disengagement of troops near Zolote and Petrivske and the reconstruction of a bridge near Stanytsia Luhanska.
