First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Emine Dzheppar and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar met with Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to Ukraine Juris Poikāns on the occasion of the end of his term in Ukraine.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the interlocutors thanked the ambassador for his active work and assistance in deepening Ukrainian-Latvian relations, noting significant achievements in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres.

In particular, Dzheppar welcomed the participation of President of Latvia Egils Levits in the inaugural summit of the Crimea Platform (August 23) and First Lady of Latvia Mrs Andra Levite - in the Kyiv Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen.

In addition, the first deputy minister stressed the importance of establishing a support group for the Crimea Platform in the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia.

During the discussions, the deputy ministers expressed gratitude for Latvia's support of Ukraine’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, which, in particular, was confirmed by the Joint Declaration on Ukraine's European Prospect, signed by the Presidents of Ukraine and Latvia on May 8, 2021.

The Latvian side stressed the invariability of support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders in the face of ongoing Russian aggression. It was also stressed that Latvia's principled position on supporting Ukraine in multilateral formats would remain.

During the meetings, the parties also discussed plans for further bilateral cooperation, in particular, in the defense, cybersecurity, transport, and agriculture sectors.
