Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has met with His Holiness Pope Francis in the Vatican City State.
According to Vatican News, talks between Pope Francis and PM Shmyhal took place this morning.

During the meeting, the hope was expressed that the parties would take steps contributing to a peaceful end to the military aggression in eastern Ukraine.

"During the sincere negotiations, the parties focused on good bilateral relations between the Holy See and Ukraine, paying special attention to some topical issues of mutual interest, as well as various topics related to the life and activities of the Catholic Church in the country," the report reads.

They also discussed the healthcare crisis and the situation in eastern Ukraine.

Later, Shmyhal met with Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, accompanied by Archbishop Paul Richard Gallagher.
