The Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, has approved the government action program presented by Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk.

A total of 236 lawmakers backed the document on October 4, with the required minimum of 226 votes, according to an UNIAN correspondent. When presenting the program, Honcharuk said that it consists of 78 benchmarks, which are divided into three sections. "The document is the foundation for our future work and the basis for the assessment of the government performance in a year," he said. As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 29, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the government action program and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada for consideration. Ukrainian Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk has announced that the new government's task is to boost economic growth in Ukraine by at least 40% within five years. To this end, Ukraine's GDP should grow by 5% in 2020 and continue rising by at least 7% per year in 2021-2024.
