Mariam Tsatryan, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health of Armenia, responded to the news circulating in the media about the delay in bringing the smallpox vaccine to Armenia. Referring to the question of "Armenpress", at what stage is the vaccine supply process, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Health said:
"Responding to speculations about the acquisition of a vaccine against smallpox, I consider it necessary to make some records. To get a smallpox vaccine as early as 2023. a tender was announced several times.
In 2024, the winning organization made the supply within the stipulated time. I've noticed that there is speculation in the publications as to why primary health care is still not covered by the smallpox vaccine.
In any vaccine supply chain, quality control is the most important step for us, and until we have compliance with all procedures, the distribution process cannot be expedited.
We reiterate that public health is our top priority, so no article, publication, or narrow-minded "concern" can artificially speed up the vaccine supply process.
