California wildfires cost $275 billion

The damage of the raging fires in California has reached 250-275 billion dollars, the AccuWeather weather monitoring service reports on the X social network page.

"AccuWeather has increased its preliminary estimate of total damage and economic losses to $250 billion to $275 billion due to the fast-moving, wind-driven fires in southern California," the report said.

The forest fires that started in Los Angeles County on January 7 are considered the biggest in the history of the state. According to the authorities, the total area of the fires exceeded 16 thousand hectares.

At least 24 people were killed and more than 12,300 buildings, including the homes of celebrities, were destroyed. Meteorologists note that the dry and windy weather caused the fire to spread quickly.
